New season ahead

Today Brann manager Eilanda welcomed the local press to a brief conference, where the main subject was the upcoming season, and what Brann planned to do in order to improve on the rather disappointing prior season. For those who’s already forgotten the painful second half of last season: Brann was in front for the first six weeks of the series, then they suffered two very close losses to Asker1, which made it virtually impossible to overtake them, because of the 6 point difference between the two. However, Brann managed to pull together and stay undefeated to the very last round, where they went on a surprising loss to Afrika-Asia away, which pushed Brann down to the third place.

"You predicted that Brann would be able to compete among the top teams this seasons, and you also stated that one key factor in order to achieve that would be to score at least 60 goals. You pretty much nailed the prediction, your team ended on 59 scored goals, and 7 points behind series winner Asker1 who went undefeated for the entire season. Would Brann be champions with one
more goal?" our reporter curiously asked.

"This season, no" Eilanda replied quickly. "We would have needed to turn at least one of the marginal losses against Asker1 into a win, and done the job against Afrika-Asia. I don't think a draw would have been enough even though that would put us equal to Asker1 in terms of points, we need to remember that they scored tons of goals [75 goals scored]. They were a number too big for all of us, and we knew that they were clear favorites from the very start."

"Even though the team performed as expected, it must have been incredibly disappointing to see the dreams of division IV get crushed like this, especially in the mid-season when two extremely close games practically decided the outcome?"

"Of course, we were guttered when the whistle blew for full time at home in week 8, we knew that this was the shot we would get this season. But, there's nothing to do there and then other than keep our heads held high, and move on".

"What's the ambitions for this season? Will we see 11 goldthirsty men hunt for the trophy?"

"First we have to see how the series will look after today, when the series swapping deadline ends. I think we have very good chances to once more fight in the top. We always aim to improve on our previous results, so anything other than silver would be extremely disappointing this season" Eilanda ended on.
